Annual Debutante Cotillion
&
Masters' Ball
At the end of each year, the Foundation sponsors this coming of-of-age affair for our graduating seniors to spotlight their accomplishments and to award academic scholarships. The foundation is seeking partners and sponsors for this cumulating event that has an attendance 400-500 guests annually.

History of the Debutante Cotillion
In 1954, at the “Old Dillard High School” the ladies of Zeta Phi
Beta Sorority, Ft. Lauderdale Chapter, sponsored the county’s first
Debutante Cotillion for young black women. Since its inception, hundreds
of Broward County’s finest have experienced the elegance of this
cultural event. The Cotillion involves the entire family of the
Debutante from beginning to end. The presentation of
the
Debutante by either parents or guardians is, and has been one of the
impressive highlights of the Cotillion. Debutantes are chosen from
former Sub-Debutantes and recommended high school seniors who exhibit
outstanding qualities in scholarship, leadership, and community service.
Debutantes have always had Escorts to enhance their presentation,
however, in 2002, the first Masters’ Ball was incorporated with the
Debutante Cotillion, spotlighting the accomplishments of
African-American young men. Scholarship dollar amounts were increased to
assist male students in pursuit of higher education; High school girls
are eligible to become Sub-Debutantes in grades 10 and 11. Sub-Debs
compete in fundraising activities for the title of “Miss Sub-Deb”. Miss
Sub Deb represents the organization in various community events. In
addition, Sub-Debs present the Annual Blue Revue, a talent extravaganza,
directed by a talent coordinator. Key seminars are provided for
Sub-Debutantes during the season. In 2004, this event sponsored by Zeta
Phi Beta Sorority, evolved under the Zeta DOVE Foundation, a 501c(3)
non-profit organization. The organization was developed for the purpose
of securing grants and corporate sponsorships to extend the educational
opportunities of our youth.
